|1937 Farmall F-20|
|. The tractor, serial number 97137, was built at the Rock Island, Illinois - International Harvester Works sometime in late 1937. At the time, my grandfather Kenneth Nairn, who went by Kenny among people who knew him well, farmed a 40 acre parcel that had been in the family since the government deeded the land to the ancestors (the Goodenows’) in the 1847. He also farmed his parent’s 100 acre farm across highway 61. An additional 120 acres was inherited from his wife’s parents after they married. After farming 320 acres with a team of horses (Bob and Queen) and a hired hand he probably came to the conclusion that motorized farming was the wave of the future and the answer to an aching back. |
