The canopy fitted to this CaterpillarD9H is a fair example of the protection fitted to such tractors for clearing heavy timber, either with a blade/rake and tree pusher bar or with a second tractor and heavy chain. The same sort of canopy is often fitted in a scaled-down form to smaller tractors for similar sort of work. They are sometimes called 'canary cages'.
