Ford 4000 - Sos Traction Coupling
[Previous Pic]  [Main List]  [Next Pic]

This picture shows my 1963 Ford 4000 (4cyl) select-o-speed with the hydraulic cover off. What you see is the traction coupling. Top is toward transmission and bottom to the rear axle. The bent rod coming from the cover plate on the left is what you turn to disengage the trans. from the rear axle so that the tractor can be towed if it has no power.
