Yesterday's Tractor Company - Antique Tractors - Stuck and Troubled

Ford 8N Battery Explosion
  [Main List]

Saturday night I plugged in the inline block heater and put the battery charger on the battery, set for trickle charge (2 amps). This morning the block was nice and warm and the tractor was cranking quite a bit faster (but not starting yet). I left it on charge (12 amps) for about an hour and then went to try again. She spun fast enough to start but, after 4 or 5 tries she hadn't fired yet and the battery was running down. I put the charger to boost, waited about 15 seconds and hit the switch to no avail. I waited another 15 seconds and hit the starter switch...this time with results but not what I wanted.............. [From the Ford N-Board Forum]
