1938 A-C - Repairing Poured Babbit Rods
[Previous Pic]  [Main List]  [Next Pic]

Poured babbit bearings are very expensive to replace. Luckily the poured rods usually have a lot more babbit in them than is actually needed. I removed enough shims from mine so the boring bar would clean things up and saved many hundreds of dollars rebuilding a model A engine. I realize that most don't have a Bridgeport at their disposal but even if hired done this will save a bunch of money.
