1970 Sears SS-12 & Tiller
[Previous Pic]  [Main List]  [Next Pic]

With Army surplus engines. My 1970 Sears SS-12 and all of the attachments were still in perfect shape except that the 12 hp engine in the tractor and the 8 hp engine in the tiller both wore out many years ago. Replacement engines were not available through Sears even back in the early '80s.

So they sat in the shed until this year when I got these 16 cubic inch 2-cylinder Army surplus engines. I got them on ebay from a place in California called victorylynda. Brand new in the crate. They cost 150 each including shipping.

They were not easy to install, but it was work all of the work because they are very powerful and smooth running.

When I get time I intend to relocate the air filter and the sediment bowl on the tractor engine so I can put the grill and hood back on.
