Ransomes Hexatrac TS69 Crawler Plough
[Previous Pic]  [Main List]  [Next Pic]

This plough spent its working life on a farm on the south coast of England and became redundant when powerfull four wheel drive tractors came in with hydraulic reversable ploughs. It was parked in 1959 and became the foundation of a large scrap metal heap where it syayed for 45 years. It only came to light again when the price of scrap metal came good in early 2004. When I bought it in summer of 2004 it was totaly ceased up with rust . After weeks of soaking in Derv, and a little heat in places it gradualy freed up . The mole boards were replaced and new discs fitted, then the trip mechanism was ready to be tested . After ten or so acres ploughing at home I made a trailor for it to be transported about and competed in six local ploughing matches through October 2004 By the spring of 2005 we had painted it the Ransomes blue and orange wheels to match the County Crawler ( Fordson Power Major skid unit)that I pull it with. The picture was taken at a ploughing match this March 2005 its first outing in its full livery. Incidentaly we came first out of three crawler outfits
