1953 Farmall Super M Picking Corn
[Previous Pic]  [Main List]  [Next Pic]

I was picking corn for a friend during my Christmas Break, 2002, down on his little farm. I'm using his one row Dearborn and Wood Bros. picker, which was quite simple to operate with the Super M. He used it on his Oliver 60 for years, but the 60 threw a rod and he was out of tractors besides his 460, so I used my Super M for fun. I could pick as fast as the husking rolls could do it. Picking in 3rd gear was absolutly no problem except for the worn out husking rolls not keeping up, so 2nd it was. My carb plugged and would only run with the choke partially out, so for teh first day I picked 1st gear was the only option becase 2nd would push the choke back in. Used more fuel doing 3 acres of corn than the other 12 after boiling the carb. More fun than a 3 ring circus, though. Thanks for looking.
