Mccormick Deering Combine
[Previous Pic]  [Main List]  [Next Pic]

October 1941. This dosen't look like a grain field I'm not sure what it is. I rode a combine similar to this in the late 60's. It was for a neighbor about a mile and a half from where I live now. It held two bags when one bag was full you flipped a lever to fill the other. You then took the full bag off tied it and put it on the shute to dump then put another empty bag on. It was hard to keep up because he wanted me to dump the bags near a previous dump. That was so the person picking up the bags didn't have to make so many stops. There was one time both bags were full and one over flowed. You had to tie a special knot when you tied the bags. It held good but it was easy to untie. He still grows grain in his old age.
