Allis Chalmers built the largest crawler tractors in production at several times in the 1940s through 1970s. Their last record-breaker was the 575 horsepower, 60 ton HD41, introduced in 1970. John Peternell owns this 1970 model, and is demonstrating it at the Historical Construction Equipment Association’s 2002 National Convention in Rochester, Minnesota. This year, our 18th annual National Convention and Old Equipment Exposition will be held September 5th through 7th, 2003 at our National Construction Equipment Museum near Bowling Green, Ohio.
